Since 1969

Rincón Chami has been serving comida criolla, the home cooking of coastal Lima, on Calle Esperanza since 1969. There's a second branch on Av. Benavides, but Esperanza is the original.

A stew for each day

The menu has the criollo standards all week: tacu tacu (rice and beans pan-fried into a crisp cake), escabeche de pescado, mondongo a la italiana, cau cau and tallarín verde. Then each day has its special:

  • Monday and Friday: seco de cordero with beans.
  • Tuesday: arroz con pato.
  • Wednesday: sancochado.
  • Weekends: chupe de camarones.

In the morning it's a sandwich counter: breaded steak, roast pork, sausage, chorizo, chicken, lomo.

Those days and dishes come from a 2020 write-up, so ask at the door if you're going for one in particular.

Going there

  • Address: Calle Esperanza 154, Miraflores. Second branch at Av. Benavides 2360.
  • Hours: every day including holidays, from about 08:00 into the evening (21:00 in 2020; some listings now say 20:00).
  • Payment: cash only, as of 2020.

Jimena Agois's verdict on the price: it isn't cheap, but you leave well fed.
